Location: Reigate - hybrid - 40% office based

Role Responsibilities

The Quality, Governance and Technical Manager role is integral to ensuring the Defined Benefits (DB) area team operates smoothly with technical competence and its activities are conducted in a robust fashion.

Managing a technical team of Pension Technical Analysts and our Member Experience Manager, the role holder will ensure the DB area has access to suitable training capabilities and meets its governance and control obligations and our members are at the centre of our developments and considerations.

Developing our member experience activities is a key element to the growth strategy in DB and this role will also manage our DB Member Experience Manager and their deliverables

Examples of Key Activities

  • Sharing Technical Pensions knowledge through training programs and guidance
  • Providing practical guidance on complex DB administration queries from around the business
  • Provide impact assessments and team briefings to share regulatory and legislative change.
  • Check and approve Individual Policies prior to issue
  • Responsible for the maintenance, updating, development and improvement of our DB Process maps
  • Deliver and maintain a DB library that contains all the policies, approvals, governance, processes, frameworks etc that underpin the DB area operational and member activities.
  • Maintain Company Authorisation Matrix for DB area
  • Coordinate and provide Governance MI including but not limited to, Conduct Risk, Consumer principles, ORSA and CORC data
  • Ensure our Member Experience programme of work aligns to our ambitions delivering VC, Crystal Mark, Customer Experience and member protection activities
  • Responsible for ensuring DB delivery of all audit and monitoring evidence as required.
  • Deliver and maintain business recovery and Operational Resilience documentation and support DB self-assessment activities.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Degree or professional equivalent e.g. PMI, APMI, QPA, CF1, CF4, FA2 etc.
  • Strong technical understanding of DB Pensions; its legislation, taxation and regulatory framework
  • Experience of working alongside or for a TPA administering DB Pensions or BPA products
  • Good understanding of DB de risking administration requirements and how they differ from standard pensions administration
  • Training individuals and groups of people
  • Ability to give constructive feedback and provide regular updates to management
  • Ability to manage workloads and prioritise a number of different tasks based on business volumes and priorities
  • Customer service focused
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate information across different media (e.g. in person, telephone, letter, email)
  • Clear focus on quality, service and results
  • Flexible approach with the ability to work as part of a team in a fast moving environment
  • Good Microsoft office skills particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Vision
  • Previous experience of working for a DB Pensions De Risking company beneficial
