Commercial Project Manager High StreetBased in Swindon (hyrbrid working pattern)£competitive + car allowanceWe have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced category manager to join our High Street Head Office based in Greenbridge Swindon. The main purpose of the role is to manage multiple key impulse projects.What you'll be doing:• Overall responsibility for specific impulse category projects• Specific focus around the monetisation of external media• To maintain the relationship with the WHSmith external media agencyo Offering guidance on space availability and supporting the trading of this media space.o Managing the day to day relationship with the agency and maintain performance tracking • To operate as the key role collaborating across all the trading teams in supporting the external media brief• Ensuring that the WHSmith media agency are supported in meeting all key WHSmith suppliers and stakeholders• To manage the relationship with the WHS marketing team ensuring all timelines for POS briefing is landed on timeo Including the ownership of the external media trade plan and inventory.• Support to the Buyers when required• Negotiation of deals to drive income• Generating new ideas on how to grow YOY Sales, margin and income• Managing promotional activity across the categories• Building up strong relationships with suppliers to deliver effective and profitable plans• Able to deliver meaningful reports and cut through the information / detail in order to get to the real issue• Keeping abreast of market trends and competitor activity in a fast paced environment, to help identify new opportunities as well as changes to our existing offering• Working closely with other areas of the business including Operations, Marketing and Finance teamWhat we are looking for:• Good depth of experience within a retail Buying/project management role, ideally with experience of buying a related product category• Confident and approachable• Enthusiastic and excited about the product• Able to work across teams (merchandising, marketing, operations etc)• Net understanding of business (i.e. buying and stock)• Strong presentation skills• Good grasp of Negotiation• Uses creative thought process - on product, promotions, displays, deals etc• Ambitious - still a lot of room for growth on the category• Excellent numerical capability• Experience of using Microsoft Excel and functions such as Vlookups and Pivot Tables• Proven track record of delivering strong levels of supplier income• Remains calm under pressure• Educated to degree standard or equivalentWhat we can offer you:Cash/Car allowanceAnnual bonus based on company performanceHybrid working model from home and in the office25 days holiday, plus your Birthday off, plus Bank Holidays with an opportunity to buy extra days holidayFinish at 4pm on a FridayCompetitive pension contributionStaff discount card for stores and onlineAbout UsWHSmith is a leading, global travel retailer with a smaller business located on UK high streets.
