Horizon Services, located in Newark, DE is seeking a superstar Payroll Specialist to lead our fast-paced, high growth environment with ongoing processing and facilitating the payroll production. The successful candidate will work directly with the leadership teams and report to the Payroll Manager, as well as frequent interactions with the HR and Accounting teams.

The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm with occasional early evenings. This schedule is flexible.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Create outlines and checklists for best practices for new companies
  • Import census data into payroll system and review for accuracy
  • Work with new sites to document pay sets including schedules & pay plans
  • Recommend ways to incorporate new group to existing practices
  • Ensure all team members, both non-exempt and exempt, are paid accurately and timely on a regular processing schedule.
  • Work autonomously while processing changes related to payroll, such as reviewing and adjusting timecards, preparing payrolls, submitting payrolls by deadlines, generating reports, and maintaining payroll records.
  • Utilize, maintain, and manage the current ADP Workforce Now payroll system
  • Process a variety of pay types including vacation, bonuses, retro, and premium
  • Review paperwork for new employees and validate employee information in the payroll system.
  • Verify attendance, hours worked, and pay adjustments, and post information onto designated records.
  • Record employee information, such as exemptions, transfers, and resignations, to maintain and update payroll records.
  • Provide information to employees and managers on payroll matters, tax issues, etc.
  • Compile statistical reports and summaries related to pay and benefits accounts and submit them to appropriate departments.
  • Complete wage statements for verifications of employment.
  • Respond to payroll requests from team members, colleagues, managers, auditors, and vendors
  • Maintain colleagues confidence and protect payroll operations by illustrating tact, discretion, and good judgement in handling sensitive and confidential information
  • Additional duties and projects as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 12 months experience with Payroll Software (Required)
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office, specifically Excel (Required)
  • Exposure to ADP Workforce Now and Service Titan (Preferred)
  • Multi-state payroll processing, including tax and other regulatory reporting requirements (Preferred)
  • Associate degree in Accounting, Business Administrations, Human Resources or related field (Preferred)
  • Positive attitude and ability to interact well with others
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines

  • Highly organized and an outstanding attention to detail
