As an MOD Content Strategist - (Inside IR35) your main responsibilities would be:

The Defence Academy requires a MOD Business Processes SME to provide accurate written draft content on various MOD business processes and functions to support the Defence Academy's course content digitisation programme.The job holder will be working to SO1 eLearning Development Team (eDT), supporting the eDT who are responsible for delivering the Defence Academy's digitisation programme (eDT are a specialist team with highly skilled eLearning developers and content authors).As part of this role the job holder will also collaboratively support other SMEs within Defence Academy (DefAc) and Ministry of Defence in the production of raw SME content

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • MOD experience
  • This role requires practitioner level knowledge of MOD business processes and functions.
  • The job holder will be required to identify, check, and curate existing learning content, and in the absence of a DefAc or MOD SMEs, research and draft accurate written content to align to Training Requirements Authority (TRA) direction, integrating external resources from a variety of sources to document processes or business functions, taking into consideration knowledge, skills and behaviours at differentiated levels ie: awareness, practitioner and advanced level, to make it suitable for a wide audience.
  • ME level knowledge of MOD Business Processes in order to advise on knowledge, skills and behaviours required at differentiated levels
  • Experience of research and analysis to identify content needs
  • Understanding of learning design - previous experience of working within a training and education environment advantageous
  • Accurate, logical writing skills to create clear learning content
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with various SMEs and stakeholders.
  • Excellent IT skills, including word-processing, PowerPoint, and spreadsheets
  • Strong organisational skills - ability to prioritise and work under pressure and to meet strict deadlines
  • Knowledge and experience of writing, drafting and advising


  • Understanding of Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT)
