The Role -

Engineering Workshop Manager

You will have experience in running an Engineering Workshop and backfround in Fabrication and Sheet metal.

As the Engineering Workshop Manager you will manage a multi-skilled team of engineers within the Workshop Department.

Positions within the Workshop Department include; Fabricator/Welders, Fitters, Machinists, Sheet Metal and Engineering Stores Controllers.

The key purpose of the position is to effectively plan, co-ordinate and continually drive the Workshop Department forward. Reporting to the Senior Management Team, you will be accountable for developing a highly technically and motivated department that meets and exceeds the needs of the department and wider Company.

Key responsibilities will include the following:

Efficiently and effectively lead and manage the Workshop Department in relation to timelines, costs, quality and delivery.

Directly responsible for the scheduling and manufacturing of jobs that are issued from our innovative Design Department.

Hands on management and support of the Team Leaders across different engineering functions (sheet metal/ machining/ fabrication/ fitting) - providing leadership and drive.

Ensuring the highest level of Health and Safety; that department operations are in accordance with all regulatory/company

Health and Safety requirements/procedures. Continually develop a strong Health and Safety culture.

Oversee the Engineering Stores Department to ensure synergy between the Stores and Workshop Department; ensuring that the Stores is able fulfil the requirements of all Engineering functions.

Continually motivate and engage your team through communication, performance reviews and technical development.

The Person We are looking for a hands on and proactive Engineering Workshop Manager with a sound knowledge of heavy engineering disciplines. Ideally from a similar background, we are looking for someone who demonstrates a strong desire for a hands on role and who can apply their knowledge across a variety of applications. The successful candidate must have ability to liaise with all levels within the organisation, and have a strong desire to work within a dynamic team to drive forward results. The Workshop Manager must be an excellent communicator and uncompromising when it comes to Health and Safety.
