The Business Analyst plays a key role in the Agile Scrum team delivering digital solutions to clients in both the public and private sector. The ideal candidate will be adept at managing stakeholders, defining and refining requirements and ensuring those requirements are clearly understood by the development team.

The role can be home based or in any EQ office, but there will be occasional travel to the Gloucester area to meet with the team and potentially to client sites as required.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Working with clients to lead Discovery / Requirements workshops, which may be either a specific pre-implementation project or continuous involvement in an implementation project to carry out ongoing refinement to requirements / stories during an agile delivery or phased delivery.

  • Creating proposals and solutions for project areas that are identified as potentially troublesome and more difficult to come to an agreement on using traditional modelling techniques.

  • Ensuring the projects team have sufficient information and direction to allow them to successfully develop, test and deliver work items in an efficient and accurate manner.

  • Presenting project progression to clients in the form of demonstrations, show and tells and webinars in order to obtain feedback as the project progresses and drive discussion points for requirements that still need a decision from the client.

  • Able to provide timely feedback with regards to changes and new developments in order to ensure solutions delivered will meet client requirements.

Key outputs of the role

  • Product definition documents such as:-

    • Feature specifications

    • Wireframe models

    • Swimlane diagrams

    • Role matrix documents

    • Business Process models

    • User Type analysis

    • Agile backlog

  • Maintain up to date Agile backlog(s).

  • Visual prototypes (e.g. produced with Axure RP).

  • "Hands-on" configuration of front-end with Outreach Open Design Studio.

  • Responsible for tracking requirements traceability for compliance, completeness, coverage and consistency, mapping requirements and deliverables to stories to ensure no deliverables gaps, (including to clearly define and evidence full delivery on fixed-price implementations).

  • User guides and training material.

  • Deliver customer training.

  • Estimates.

  • RFC (Request for Change) documents.

Skills and Experience

  • Previously worked for an IT / software supplier.

  • Experience of projects with a customer / web front-end as well as staff-facing functionality.

  • Experience of both Agile and Waterfall projects, with the majority of it Agile.

  • Good writing and verbal communication skills and ability to supply written / graphical reports to a high standard.

  • Experience of prototyping / wireframing.

  • "Hands-on" use of software tools for configuration purposes (NOT development / programming).

  • Experience giving presentations.
