Accounts Assistant, ATT, ACCA, CIMA Part Qualified Accountant, Finance Accountant, Accountancy, Permanent, West DraytonAccounts AssistantAn Accounts Assistant is required to join a UK team based in West Drayton, London primarily to deliver end-to-end purchase ledger responsibilities.Within the scope of your role, you will be responsible for the provision of an effective administration service to the accounting and finance department, delivered by careful adherence to process and application of the accounting system. You will be involved in the management of financial data and production of information to support financial analysis and budget review processes within agreed cycle plan timelines, alongside undertaking of other general administrative tasks. The role supports the company to accurately record transactions in the Company accounts, enabling the production of year-end financial statements.This is a great opportunity for someone who is either already an experienced in purchase and sales ledger or for someone looking to build a career in Finance who is looking for a role as a steppingstone to becoming a fully qualified Financial Accountant.This role reports to the Head of Finance and you will be working alongside another Accounts Assistant as well as the Senior Finance Assistant.Purchase Ledger
  • Validate inbound invoices from suppliers, ensuring they are signed off for payment by the relevant department
  • Reconcile delivery notes to invoices received and purchase orders
  • Record purchase invoices in accounting systems
  • Prepare weekly payment runs for payments due
  • Reconcile supplier statements to the purchase ledger
  • Investigate purchase ledger queries
Sales Ledger
  • Query, validate and record debit notes from customers
  • Assist with chasing customer debt, and sending customer statements
  • Oversee and control of customer portals
Reporting and month-end procedures
  • Support the Head of Finance to deliver monthly management accounts, via the application of month-end procedures
  • Post credit-card expenditure in a timely manner, ensuring employees understand and comply with timelines for submitting expenses
  • Provide additional administrative support as directed to support year end audits
Must haves:
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working within a finance team
  • Knowledge of accounting concepts including accrual and revenue recognition
  • GSCE level English and Maths or equivalent
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
  • Evidence of ability to follow and adhere to procedure and guidelines, work accurately and have an eye for detail
  • Ability to organise and prioritise work effectively to achieve targets in a timely and efficient manner;
  • Ability to evidence a good grasp of Financial Business Ethics
  • Willingness to seek help and guidance appropriately
Nice to haves:
  • Maths or Business at A Level, or AAT or equivalent diploma
  • Part qualified accountancy qualification e.g. ATT, ACCA, CIMA
  • Experience working with the accounting system used by the company - IFS
  • The ability to evidence problem solving and troubleshooting competence
